Stayed in the Ship many times and been visiting Fowey for about 30 years now. Room not as good as some I've had in the Ship but it was fairly last minute and only one night. Breakfast great and staff helpful.

Fowey is a lovely, typical fishing village however it has the usual plethora of second homes, airbnb and rental properties. It’s not too commercial though. Lots of narrow streets and old buildings.
We visited in March and it was lovely, I suspect that in the high season it will get very crowded. A nightmare to drive through!

Classic Cornish small coastal town nestled on the steep western bank of a creek. Full of character and plenty of real local people as well as tourists. Be prepared for a steep heart stopping climb to the central car par if you miss the Town (mini) Bus which appears every 15 minutes.Highly recommend Bufala Italian restaurant/.pizzeria - don't be put off by drab road facing entrance/waiting area. Pintxo tapas bar looked interesting but could not get a seat.

A very idyllic town, by the river Fowey, especially when the sun is out and sparkling on its surface.
Excellent opportunities to walk along the coast, or to jump on to ferries and visit other towns. Some lovely beaches and coves nearby (Readymoney Cove is lovely and at walking distance from the centre) making it possible to dip into the river. Many links to Daphne du Maurier around the area - although Manderley is private (and under a different name) it’s easy to be enraptured by the atmosphere.
Buses are just a couple and not very regular, but it’s still possible to visit the area even if you don’t own a car.
I truly recommend.

A delightful place to visit. Wonderful swimming at Readymoney Bay.
Good long Beach for strolling at Par Bay a short drive out of Fowey.
The town of Fowey is charming, set on the River. However the steep walk from and up to the upper part of town is a kittle challenging.
Fowey offers a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Lovely location especially Readymoney beach and the shops & pubs.
Little bit challenging getting to accommodation by car, to drop our bags off, as it’s a single road one way system. So if you miss it you either have to go round again or park up and walk back.

A really compact village/town with everything centrally placed, plenty of choice of drinking or eating places.
Only downside is the carparking on the fringe of the town, you would need to catch the town taxi/bus if you have any mobility problems.
Visit Llanhydrock Place the best National Trust property I've ever entered.
Very clean, well appointed apartment. Great location on the edge of Fowey which meant you could easily walk into town and back (or get the local bus back). Also meant you could join the Southwest Coast Path just a short walk away, and also walk the 'Hall Walk' - all without using your car. Apartment is larger than it looks in the photographs with a fabulous view of fields, and sheep. Very quiet location. Two bathrooms. Easy roads to reach the surrounding areas, with lots of lovely beaches nearby.
Location is perfect for a stroll around fowey and the local walks. Although Fowey is extremely steep and one to be aware of if you struggle, once you’re at cottage you are within close walking distance to all the shops and pubs/restaurants and harbour. The cottage is equipped for dining inside or out with a little courtyard and picnic table. Had everything you need all amenities covered including washing machine iron and ironing board, spoilt with 2 bathrooms. Would happily stay here every year!
Amazing place to stay. Owners & staff were so lovely & welcoming. Rooms are excellent comfy beds ,wonderful toiletries , gorgeous fluffy towels.
Lots of choice on tea tray. Bar was good & hotel make their own Gins & Vodkas( which were very nice). Dinner in restaurant was so good (we had Squid & prawn starter hen cod & chips) view from the restaurant is of the river Fowey.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely & 2 ladies doing breakfast service were very friendly.
Would highly recommend
The hotel was stunning, amazing views over Fowey (I have now realised it's pronounced Foy!) We got a room upgrade when we checked in which was a lovely surprise! The staff were very helpful and recommended Sam's restaurant down in the village, which we had already booked a table for. The facilities are excellent, we used the games room and the indoor pool, could have been slightly warmer, but minor issue, and didn't take away from our fantastic stay! Thank you!
We really liked the , comfort, friendliness and position of Safe Harbour Hotel in relation to the town.
Less than 10 minutes walk back up on a gentle incline.
Parking was at the back of the Hotel which takes the stress out of going to find public parking, car parks.
Overall we definitely will be visiting again.
Breakfast had a good selection to choose from and was cooked to order.
Breakfast excellent. Dinner excellent. High quality food and fair price. Excellent service throughout eateries and hotel generally. Pool, very clean, nice facility. Great terrace area, lovely views. Very relaxing place. Staff friendly with a dry wit .. if you like that! Great. TOP TIP - book restaurant in advance not to be disappointed ... probably a week or so before your stay.
Amazing hosts, so friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
The garden is so beautiful and a lovely place for relaxing after a day in Fowey. The property also has lovely family touches that made it feel homely. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished with homely and interesting touches, and a fabulous breakfast!
The hotel and grounds were absolutely amazing, very peaceful and tranquil. Well maintained throughout, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room (superior double) downstairs with a terrace was fantastic…clean, comfortable, spacious and well decorated. Location was great with Fowey literally on the doorstep.
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous - beautiful features, well maintained. The room was modern yet fitting with the style of the house. The common areas in the hotel are lush and has so many different areas to sit and enjoy the view. The staff were so kind to us and our dog - I would definitely come back!
I liked ghe hospitality, warm welcome. I felt at home.
What a wonderful couple with 3 beautiful dogs .
Loved my ensuite room,ao clean and loved the furnitures/style.
The area was amazing and very close to Fowey Town and ReadyMoney cove .
The cottage is fantastic, welcoming, clean and can host 6 people in 3 bedrooms.
Eating on the terrace with the view on the harbour was amazing and our guests and us were delighted by such a lovely view.
The location is handy as well.
Bob and Joe are brilliant.. Great hosts.. helpful, informative and gave great tips about the area.. especially the pub locations, local walks etc😉👍.
The breakfast is spot-on and locally sourced produce definatly pays off
Fabulous views of the harbour from our room and the bar / restaurant. Hotel tastefully decorated whilst maintaining great features like the old school shutter elevator. Free gin the room was a lovely little extra.
The stay was perfect in every way. Lovely boutique hotel, incredible position overlooking the harbour, friendly staff and amazing breakfast. Cosy room with comfortable bed and everything I could possibly need.
Great location in the heart of Fowey. On site restaurant is Michelin star. 5-course dinner menu had fantastic choices and flavors. First-rate complimentary breakfast choices.
Really great pub and accommodation, right in the centre of Fowey with a fantastic view of the harbour. Good breakfast and super friendly staff. Would recommend.
